๐ Club History
Manchester United Football Club was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR FC by the workers of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. After financial difficulties, the club was reformed in 1902 and renamed Manchester United. The club rose to prominence under Sir Matt Busby in the 1950s and '60s, winning the European Cup in 1968 as the first English club to do so โ just a decade after the Munich air disaster claimed eight players' lives. The Sir Alex Ferguson era (1986โ2013) remains the most successful in English football history, delivering 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, and 2 UEFA Champions League trophies. Old Trafford, known as the "Theatre of Dreams," has been the club's home since 1910 and is the largest club stadium in England.
